China Firm Shares ₹236 Crore Bonus With Staff, Lets Employees Count and Keep Cash

A Chinese manufacturing company has captured global attention after distributing 180 million yuan (about $26 million or ₹236–237 crore) as year-end bonuses — nearly 70% of its annual profits — to employees.

According to the South China Morning Post, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd. organised its annual gala on February 13, where more than 60 million yuan was handed out in cash on the spot. The firm reported a net profit of 270 million yuan in 2025, meaning a substantial portion of earnings was returned directly to its workforce.

Cash Counting Challenge Goes Viral

Around 7,000 employees attended the grand celebration, with 800 banquet tables arranged across the venue. Videos widely shared on Chinese social media platforms showed long tables covered with stacks of neatly arranged yuan notes.

In a dramatic twist, employees were invited on stage and allowed to count cash within a fixed time limit — and whatever amount they managed to count correctly, they could take home. Some workers were seen hugging bundles of cash, while others laughed as they tried to keep the thick stacks from falling.

The unusual bonus format quickly went viral, with netizens calling it “the most satisfying corporate event ever” and praising the company’s transparent profit-sharing approach.

Including bonuses distributed digitally after the event, the total payout exceeded 180 million yuan, representing nearly 70% of the company’s total earnings for the year.

‘Boss Who Loves Giving Out Money the Most’

Company chairman Cui Peijun, who holds approximately 98.88% of the company’s shares, surprised staff further by cancelling planned appliance gifts.

“Why are we giving out washing machines? Do you think gold prices have gone up? In previous years, we gave necklaces and rings. Bring up the cash and give everyone another 20,000 yuan,” he reportedly told the finance department during the gala.

His spontaneous decision to increase payouts added to his growing reputation online as a leader who prioritises employees over corporate savings.

Built on Profit Sharing

Founded in 2002, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd. manufactures cranes and material handling equipment and operates in more than 130 countries.

The company has consistently shared profits with staff:

  • 2024: Net profit of 260 million yuan; 170 million yuan distributed among employees
  • International Women’s Day (March 2025): Nearly 1.6 million yuan in bonuses awarded to 2,000 women employees

Industry observers note that such large-scale profit sharing is relatively rare in traditional manufacturing sectors, particularly at a time when many global firms are tightening costs.

Boosting Morale and Brand Image

Analysts say the generous bonus strategy not only boosts employee morale but also strengthens the company’s brand image, recruitment appeal, and workforce loyalty. In competitive manufacturing industries, retaining skilled workers is increasingly seen as a key driver of long-term growth.

By publicly rewarding staff and linking bonuses directly to company performance, the firm appears to reinforce a culture of shared success — a move that has resonated widely online.

As videos from the event continue to circulate, many social media users have dubbed Cui Peijun “the boss who loves giving out money the most,” with some jokingly asking if the company is hiring.
