More than 22 lakh medical aspirants are set to appear for the NEET UG Re-exam on Sunday, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urging candidates to remain calm, confident and free from anxiety. His appeal comes as authorities implement extensive security arrangements across examination centres to ensure the smooth conduct of one of India’s largest and most closely watched entrance examinations.

Ahead of the NEET UG Re-exam, the Education Minister expressed confidence in the National Testing Agency, state governments, district administrations and the education fraternity, stating that all stakeholders had worked together to conduct the examination in a transparent, secure and fair manner. He encouraged students to focus on their preparation rather than external concerns and approach the examination with confidence.

NEET UG Re-exam conducted under heightened security

The NEET UG Re-exam is being held under enhanced security arrangements following increased public attention on the examination process. Police personnel and local authorities have been deployed at examination centres across multiple states to maintain order and ensure candidates can complete the examination without disruption.

Officials have coordinated with district administrations, law enforcement agencies and examination authorities to facilitate smooth entry of candidates, manage crowd movement and strengthen monitoring at test centres. The security measures reflect the government’s emphasis on preserving the credibility of the Medical Entrance Exam while ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates.

Dharmendra Pradhan expresses confidence in the National Testing Agency

Addressing students before the examination, Dharmendra Pradhan indicated that he had complete faith in the National Testing Agency, state governments, district administrations, members of the education fraternity and the students themselves. According to the minister, the collective efforts of these institutions are aimed at conducting the NEET Re-examination fairly and efficiently.

His remarks were intended to reassure candidates that comprehensive arrangements had been made to support a transparent examination process. The minister also appealed to students to remain focused on their performance rather than speculation surrounding the examination.

Experts stress preparation over anxiety

Education experts frequently advise candidates appearing for high-stakes competitive examinations to concentrate on time management, question analysis and maintaining composure instead of worrying about external factors. Academic counsellors note that anxiety can affect concentration and decision-making, making mental preparedness almost as important as subject knowledge.

Experts further observe that examinations involving millions of candidates require robust administrative planning, transparent procedures and effective coordination between central and state agencies to maintain public confidence. They believe that consistent communication from authorities plays an important role in reducing uncertainty among students and parents.

As the NEET UG Re-exam progresses across the country, education authorities are expected to closely monitor the conduct of the examination while ensuring that candidates experience a smooth and secure testing environment. The outcome of the examination will be significant for millions of aspiring medical students seeking admission to undergraduate medical programmes across India.

With more than 22 lakh candidates participating, the NEET UG Re-exam remains one of the country’s most important competitive examinations, and the successful conduct of the test will be closely watched by students, parents, educational institutions and policymakers alike.

NTA to conduct nationwide mock drill ahead of NEET UG 2026 re-test

lianzhifeng34 go ahead 2325571 1920 BizWire

The National Testing Agency will conduct a nationwide NTA mock drill on June 20 as part of its final preparations for the NEET UG re-test, scheduled to be held on June 21. The exercise is intended to assess the operational readiness of examination centres and security agencies while ensuring that the NEET UG re-test is conducted in a secure and orderly manner following heightened scrutiny over examination integrity.

The NTA mock drill will begin at 9 am and continue until late in the evening, with more than 2.5 lakh security personnel expected to participate across the country. The large-scale exercise is designed to simulate examination-day conditions and identify any logistical or security gaps before candidates appear for the NEET UG re-test.

NEET re-exam security

Authorities have already handed over all examination centres to the National Testing Agency, allowing the agency to oversee final arrangements ahead of the examination. Officials have planned a comprehensive NEET re-exam security framework that includes a three-tier security system at every examination centre to minimise the risk of irregularities.

Under the security protocol, examination venues will remain under continuous surveillance through closed-circuit television cameras, while security personnel will monitor candidate movement and entry procedures throughout the examination process. The Three-tier security arrangement is expected to provide multiple layers of protection from the arrival of examination materials until the completion of the test.

The security plan also includes strict safeguards for transporting and storing confidential examination material. Paramilitary personnel have been deployed to secure question papers and other sensitive materials, reflecting the authorities’ emphasis on maintaining the integrity of the NEET UG re-test.

Three-tier security

The Three-tier security system forms a central part of the preparations for the NEET UG re-test. Security agencies will coordinate with local administration, examination officials, and law enforcement personnel to monitor examination centres before, during, and after the test.

Education experts have consistently argued that large-scale entrance examinations require layered security protocols, real-time surveillance, secure transportation of examination papers, and coordinated communication among agencies to reduce opportunities for malpractice. They note that nationwide mock exercises can help authorities identify procedural weaknesses and improve response mechanisms before the actual examination.

The National Testing Agency has been under increased public and judicial scrutiny following concerns surrounding examination security in recent months. As a result, the agency has introduced enhanced operational measures aimed at reinforcing public confidence in the examination process and ensuring a transparent conduct of the NEET UG re-test.

With more than 2.5 lakh security personnel participating in today’s NTA mock drill, authorities are seeking to ensure that all systems function as intended before candidates appear for the examination on June 21. The exercise represents one of the most extensive security preparations undertaken for a national entrance examination and is expected to test coordination between central agencies, state administrations, examination officials, and security forces.
